Khethelo Nkosi Profile
Even at a young age, Khethelo is a seasoned speaker who has had the privilege to deliver a Ted Talk at TEDx Pretoria in November 2014. TEDx is a division of the global TED conference.
His love for the spoken word was cultivated by Toastmaster International. Khethelo serves on the local President Toastmasters, Hatfield Club Executive Committee as Sergeant At Arms. In 2012 he made history as the youngest member of Toastmaster to be awarded the Toastmaster of Year Award 2012/2013.
Khethelo has hosted a number of personal and business development seminars as well as Mastering Public Speaking Training Events. He equips delegates and groups with technical skills on how to overcome the fear of public speaking and make a lasting impression on stage. One of his most successful training events was the South African Washington International Program in public speaking and speech writing.
Whilst he was a student at University of Pretoria Khethelo served as chairman of the Corporate Youth Society, which facilitated and provided information around entrepreneurship and business within the student community to encourage entrepreneurial and intreprenuerial thinking. Some of the people he had a privilege to work with during this time were multi-millionaire entrepreneur, Thapelo Tshepe; businessman and socialite Kenny Kunene; and bestselling authors Chris and Suzanne Styles.
Khethelo manages to incorporate his love for developing and growing others with his knowledge in entrepreneurship and Supply Chain Management. One of his most notable talks is titled: “Don’t focus on the product focus on the process,” which infuses supply chain knowledge into how to achieve better results.
When he is not on stage, he is tinkering on his soon to be realised book, which may or may not be titled: Stop Breathing start living! 7 keys to a life of meaning and fulfillment.
Khethelo was described as a: “A young and dynamic person, who not only has a talent to inspire and motivate but in addition has a passion to empower the youth of South Africa to start believing in themselves and to become the masters of their future.” By Head of Student Development, Department of Student Affairs University of Pretoria Dr. Rina Wilken.
Vukani Makalima Profile
His ability to entertain has been proven time and time again when he hosted a number of Nedbank events namely the 2013 Community Builder Awards (held as part of the Nedbank National Deep Green Staff Day); the Gauteng Regional Recognition Awards; the groups’ Hyde Park and Graaf-Reinet branch launches; the group year-end and achiever award ceremonies.
His love for the stage and performance developed at an early age while he was at Crewe Primary 1992 – 1995. “My father was a performer and I guess you could say the apple didn’t fall far from the tree.”
But his first love is being a master of ceremony and in 2010 he got his first break when he was approached to be a presenter at the Centurion Fan Park for the 2010 Fifa World Cup South Africa. He shared the stage with well-known names such as Freshlyground, Kwela Tebza, Anele Mdoda, Kurt Darren and Brian Thema.
In 2008, Vukani also presented the SABC 2 Youth Presenter Roadshow, which spanned across Durban, Johannesburg and Bloemfontein.
His presenting skills were refined when he hosted a slot on Top Stereo FM in 2002 while he studied towards a National Diploma in Business Communication (2002 – 2005) at Pretoria Technikon, now Tshwane University of Technology. In 2003 he then won the coveted Mr Technikon Pretoria and his duties included extensive appearances and speaking commitments, which helped to hone his skills.
On completion of his studies he worked his way up from a sales consultant and to the position of Assistant Brand Manager SABC2 (2008 – 2011) and was then appointed Communications Manager at Nedbank 2011 to date.
Vukani does not believe in just sitting back and letting life happen to him. He’s taken charge of his health and started running in 2011. “It started out as a health and lifestyle choice but became so much more, running gives me a sense of achievement. The discipline required to be a marathon runner means I follow a schedule, eat healthy and make sacrifices constantly to stay competitive.”
The discipline and sacrifices has paid off as he recently completed his third 2016 Two Oceans Marathon and second Comrades Marathon.
His life experiences and spirit of determination keeps him motivated and pushes him to do better and to encourage others to dig deep and reach for the stars.
Zolisa Xaluva Profile
This was rock bottom for Zolisa, but this is not where he stayed. He learnt a few hard lessons about who his real friends were and what it means to fail. The arts were his saving grace and he made it his life’s mission to use the platform to share his experience with others, shape people’s perceptions and empower them.
“I also want to give children that are talented a platform for them to express themselves” and to showcase their talent, whilst building their self-esteem and helping them carve out a future for themselves.”
This dream is founded on his love to support others and the arts. 10 years from now all Zolisa sees himself doing is producing movies, sourcing and developing local talent.
